CBD is a compound that is short for cannabidiol. CBD is not a drug (in the traditional sense), and comes from the hemp plant. CBD can be extracted from the hemp plant in several different ways, but the goal of extraction is to turn CBD into a product that can be used by humans or animals. With CBD's popularity growing, many people are questioning the legality of CBD products. Long story short, CBD is perfectly legal, so long as it meats certain legal parameters and is produced in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws. The most important CBD regulation is that CBD cannot contain more than 0.3% THC. Some levels of THC are usually present in hemp, but they are trace amounts, and 0.3% has been determined as the legal marker for CBD. According to the FDA, all CBD must be manufactured and transported in line with any appropriate state regulation.

CBD will not get you high, so long as it is produced within normal, legal parameters. CBD is manufacturered from the hemp plant. Depending on the quality of the hemp and how the processor is looking to manufacturer it, hemp will go through a variety of different extraction methods. This is different than marijuana, which actually comes from the marijuana plant. Different methods of extraction will provide different types of CBD like broad-spectrum CBD, full-spectrum CBD, or isolate CBD. Broad-spectrum CBD should contain 0% THC. Make sure to always check the lab results and reviews of a product to find out if has any THC in it.

It's difficult to say whether or not CBD will show up on a drug test, because the answer is based off of several factors. There are many types of drug tests, but they usually work by examining the presence of THC in your system through urine, saliva, blood, or hair follicle. If a user is determined to have more than 50 nanograms per milliliter of THC in their system, a positive drug test will be triggered. Some tests are more sensitive and will trigger a positive result at just 20 nanograms. Other factors include the overall sensitivity of the drug test, the method of testing used, the metabolism and processing speed of the individual taking the test, and the individual's history of marijuana use.
