About Higher Education Richmond
What is Delta 8?
Delta 8 is a type of cannabis product that exists in the space between marijuana and CBD. While it has similarities to both, it is its own product.
The product is a derivative of hemp. Delta 8 itself is what happens when the THC in legally usable THC is converted to Delta 8. Unlike CBD, Delta 8 is reported to actually make people feel a degree of intoxication. It is not quite as intense as marijuana, but users do report a mild euphoria and a change in perception of reality. A variety of anecdotal reports exist about the effects of the substance, with users reporting this type of high. For example, one user reports feeling energized and able to conduct more work. Others have said it helps them feel less anxious and that it reduces pain and anxiety.
Delta 8 exists in an interesting legal space between marijuana and hemp. It is currently legal at the federal level – or at least it isn’t illegal. However, thus far, many states have banned Delta-8, with more following, arguing that it is essentially a drug. Furthermore, the United States Drug Enforcement Administration has proposed banning Delta 8, so how long the product is on the market may be in the air. However, for the moment, unless you live in a state in which Delta 8 has been banned, its purchase, use, and transportation are perfectly legal.
Like CBD products, Delta 8 is available in many forms. These include edibles like gummies, vape cartridges, tinctures, and smokable rocks.

Did not feel very welcomed by one of the employees, however had much better vibes from someone different on a 2nd/3rd visit. As selection goes this place has a ton of glass, certainly WAY more than I've seen at any other shop. I especially like how they are actively involved in helping people learn by offering classes in store and by posting daily videos on their facebook. I am so far out of the loop I was not even aware of diffused downstems until I saw them promote a gravlabs piece. I believe they even periodically give away clones. I do not need new pieces but I will certainly try my best to support this business and recommend it to anybody looking.

I don't give bad reviews lightly, but Higher Education robbed me of $70. They did this by selling me a cheaply made knock-off grinder (photos attached) and then refusing to accept a return. Higher Education are criminals who are damaging the name of an American Company, Cali Crusher, as well as trust in local businesses.
I brought the clean and unused grinder back into Higher Education, along with the receipt, and proof that it was a knockoff. The Owner's reply after acknowledging that it was fake grinder was: "No returns. No returns, no exceptions. Do you want me to keep repeating myself?" This is the most unprofessional and disgusting way of doing business I've seen from a RVA proprietor outside of Seibert's Towing.
Selling cheaply made knockoff goods for premium price of $70 and refusing to accept returns is simply criminal. The Owner has made this practice his policy, and for that reason Higher Education does not deserve your business.
PS: The Grinder is fake because:
1) It visibly doesn't have Cali Crusher Homegrown's patented 4-Way Quick Lock System.
2) The Star logo is in the wrong position, it should be beneath the "A".
3) It has a cheap plastic pollen scraper, instead of Cali Crusher's signature guitar pick shape.
EDIT #1 RESPONSE TO 'the owner' :
1) The product was never used and was 100% clean. There was no smell, nor did you ever make the claim about any smell or usage while I was in the store.
2) The product is without a shadow of a doubt a knock-off. It was not produced by Cali Crusher, and it is not a Cali Crusher Homegrown grinder. Look up Cali Crusher Homegrown to see what the American Made product actually looks like.

Great selection. Employee working today (8-14-22) was helpful and attentive.

I went to higher education roughly 2 weeks ago, and purchased a 5 pack of what the gentleman behind the counter assured me to be autoflower white widow seeds from crop king seed co. I asked numerous times and was assured they were autoflower. After opening and reading the package at home (after planting) I saw they were not autoflower seeds. All 5 of the seeds failed to germinate, and I called to see what they (higher education) could do. I paid a premium price ($65) for seeds that were not what they said they were, and they were duds. I’ve germinated plenty of seeds, and had a few others germinating at the same time that were successful. After speaking with the owner, who was calm and respectful on the phone, he said he wasn’t there, didn’t know what the sales kid said, and he wasn’t willing to “take a hit.” I won’t be choosing to shop here anymore, and would advise others to go to a more reputable retailer.

Love Debbie so much she clearly has education and care in her skill and position. She's the only one to show real care and tentiveness to customers and sales. I find that shes the only one fully aware of pricing and any inquiries you may have in any aspect of the shop. Love the shop and the vibe. Hope the moral and staff can become all equally the same.
